It has been just over a
year since the horrible fire occurred that devastated
the Antrim Lodge and destroyed the second, third and
fourth floors of the building. In the aftermath, we have
had many hurdles to clear in order to resurrect the
Antrim and to restore what parts of it that could be
salvaged. It hasn't been easy but now, as anyone that
passes by can see, we have a beautiful building. That
does not mean, however, that we're open for business.
Unfortunately, there is still a lot more work to be done
and a few more issues to resolve. Consequently, it is
unlikely that we will be open for business before Spring
2009.
But we promise that the renovated Antrim will be worth
the wait. The guest rooms have been made larger, and the
14 guest rooms will each have private baths, TVs, DVD
players and direct telephone lines. Several of the guest
rooms are constructed so that they can be used as two or
three bedroom suites. A full size elevator will service
the lower ground through third floors. Wireless internet
will be available throughout the building and broadband
ports will be available in the new Business Center.
The Antrim will have three dining areas. The main dining
room will have an area for set up of a band or DJ with a
central dance floor. The west dining room features a
beautiful skylight and will house a 60 inch flat screen
TV. This room can be used for anything from private
dining to business presentations to movie night!
The historic lower ground bar - renowned as Keener's
pool -- and the attached dining area were not directly
damaged by the fire and will be completely restored and
updated. This area will be available for more casual
dining or can be combined with the upstairs dining areas
for larger functions.
Also on the lower ground level will be a gear room where
guests can remove their outdoor clothing and securely
stow their sporting equipment. The area will be
accessible only by card key and individual room-keyed
lockers will be available to store safely any items.
This will give guests more room in their rooms while
providing a safe environment in which to secure and dry
equipment. The gear room will lead to a sauna and three
private steam showers in which guests can relax after a
day's activities.
We are firmly focused on completing the restoration of
the Antrim. Our goal is to have you enjoy the Antrim
Lodge and this beautiful area of Sullivan County. We
hope to get to know you in the future.
